Stand Up 2 Cancer w/ Us
In 1999 my father was diagnosed with Liver cancer. He was a very proud man. Didn't complain...just did what he had to do & fought like a champ...He went into remission....But in Jan. of 2002 he was struck ill w/ what we thought was a stomach ailment. We were stunned to learned that he had stage 4 inoperable liver cancer. He fought hard and lived longer than doctors determined. My father Oxzel Slade transitioned on Nov. 18, 2002, 25 years & one day after my mother passed away of (ironically) different liver ailment.
I have been a advocate to fighting cancer since the loss of my grandmother in 1996 &my HS alumnus Jill Wilson- Halmett in 2005. Now I have another HS friend who is fighting as well Willma Diaz-O'Kelley.
When I approached Alexie F to get support, he did not hesitate. He knew my history and wanted to do whatever he could. He also requested that I reach out to his fans.
I have a piece of art that I am auctioning off on Ebay entitled Dancing Lady II which symbolizes strength.
If you want to help my cause. Please bid on Dancing Lady II on Ebay. If you win the bid on this piece, 30% of the proceeds goes to Stand Up 2 Cancer.
